I want to call your attention to a few items covered in this week’s HR Update before it goes out to all employees. We know you’ve received some questions on leave without pay. The updated HR Guidelines for Managers, attached here, include this table to clarify our policy for both planned and unplanned absences for the rest of the year.
It’s been an unprecedented year. We set up the planned absence options so that once employees exhaust their vacation and personal time, they can use leave without pay before sick time. This will allow them to save sick time for unplanned situations that may come up between now and the end of the year. As a reminder, we established a bank of leave without pay equal to the sick and personal time each employee used March 15 – May 30. 2020. Employees can use that time to cover unplanned absences without discipline.
Please continue to set a good example with social distancing and having your mask with you and using it when you can’t maintain that distance. If you are a manager of office employees, you should have the Dot-provided cloth face coverings to distribute to your people. More were sent out last week to those who needed them. If you are still needing face masks for your employees, please contact Toni Hillyer. Encourage employees to use them. The country is seeing an influx of cases of the virus in some areas, including around some of our facilities. Health officials continue to say social distancing and masks are our best line of defense.
Thanks for all your help.
